What is rerouting?
In the context of financial transactions, particularly with platforms like WAAVE, "rerouting" might refer to redirecting transactions to a different account or payment method.
How does WAAVE handle reroutes?
When a product is not approved by a specific partner, WAAVE can reroute or redirect those transactions under a different tech-stack.This means your account will be working under two different MIDs.
All rerouted items will have weekly payouts under the name of WAAVE TECHNOLOGIES. When a transaction is rerouted, it will say WAAVE on the descriptor.
How should merchants handle reroutes?
We cannot stress enough that it is highly important you let your buyers know they will see WAAVE in their monthly statements in order to prevent chargebacks. Also, bear in mind that the chargeback rate is higher for rerouted items, so you should handle reroutes with special care:
- Inform the buyer that they will see "WAAVE" on their statement descriptor.
- If a buyer initiates a chargeback, contact them to verify the situation.
- Encourage the buyer to contact their bank to clarify that the chargeback was made in error. This action can greatly support your case. Remember, once a chargeback is initiated, it cannot be reversed. You must dispute the chargeback by providing all necessary information.
